Paper and Pencil and Computer Based Test (CBT) Examination Schedule

  • Updates for the October 2020 NCEES PE exam administration. Due to the cancellation of the April 2020 exams, it is anticipated that there will be an unprecedented number of candidates registering for the October 2020 paper and pencil PE exams.

  • Registration opens on June 1. You are encouraged to register early as seating and site selection is limited and offered on a first come/first serve basis. Registration will close on August 20.

  • You may register directly with NCEES if all of your information is current on your MyNCEES account https://ncees.org/supplemental/launch-login. You must have a verified transcript of your EAC/ABET degree on file with NCEES and a passing FE score.

Apply for Licensure as a Professional Engineer by Examination
PE Applicants wishing to apply for a license by examination in Louisiana must meet the below requirements:

  • You have graduated with a BS degree from an EAC/ABET accredited program
  • You have submitted a transcript to NCEES
  • You have passed the NCEES FE and PE Exams (exams must be verified on your NCEES dashboard)
  • You have obtained the requisite four years of progressive engineering experience subsequent to meeting the educational requirements
  • Your experience record(s) and verification of experience form(s) have been uploaded to your NCEES dashboard

  • *The Chemical, Environmental and Mechanical PE exams are computer-based and administered year-round at NCEES-approved Pearson Vue test centers:

  • The Fundamentals of Engineering, the Fundamentals of Surveying, and the Principles and Practice of Surveying exams have been converted to computer-based exams.
  • To take the FE and FS exams, candidates who meet the requirements for certification should register directly with NCEES: http://ncees.org/exams/state-pages/louisiana-exam-registration.
  • To take the PLS and/or the Louisiana Laws of Surveying exams, candidates should apply to LAPELS for approval.
