You may register directly with NCEES if all of your information is current on your MyNCEES account https://ncees.org/supplemental/launch-login.
You must have a verified transcript of your EAC/ABET degree on file with NCEES and a passing FE score.

NOTE: If you ever apply for professional engineer licensure in another jurisdiction,
you MAY be required to take the Principles and Practice of Engineering examination again. Some jurisdictions may not honor the “early taking” of the Principles and Practice of Engineering
examination prior to obtaining the requisite progressive engineering experience.

PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER BY EXAM
|
What is Model Law Engineer (MLE) Designation?
- Earn a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited program
- Gain four years of acceptable/verified progressive engineering experience
- Pass the NCEES FE and PE exams
- Maintain a disciplinary record free of violations/disciplinary actions in any jurisdiction

First PE Licensure - EAC/ABET BS degree
- Earn a bachelor’s degree EAC/ABET from an EAC/ABET accredited program
- Pass the NCEES FE and PE Exams
- Obtain 5 Personal References of which 3 must have an active PE licensure
- Gain 4 years of acceptable/verified progressive engineering experience

First PE Licensure - Non-EAC/ABET BS engineering degree
- Obtain a bachelor’s degree in a Non-EAC/ABET engineering program
- Must obtain an NCEES Credential Evaluation before applying
- Pass the NCEES FE and PE Exams
- Obtain 5 Personal References of which 3 must have an active PE licensure
- Gain 8 years of acceptable/verified progressive engineering experience
- Two (2) of the 8 years must be either in the US; or
- If the two (2) years of experience is outside of the US, it must be verified by a US PE

First PE Licensure – non-EAC/ABET BS degree in related science leveled and coupled with a MS degree from a university with an EAC/ABET undergrad program in the same discipline.
- Earn a bachelor’s degree in a related science and MS Engineering degree from a university with an EAC/ABET undergrad program in the same discipline
- Must obtain an NCEES Credential Evaluation before applying
- Pass the NCEES FE and PE Exams
- Obtain 5 Personal References of which 3 must have an active PE licensure
- Gain 4 years of acceptable/verified progressive engineering experience subsequent to the date conferred with the MS degree

What's next after passing the PE Exam?
Once you pass the NCEES PE examination and obtain the requisite verified progressive engineering experience, you will need to do the following:
- Establish a record with NCEES. Once the record is complete, you will need to request that NCEES transmit the record to LAPELS
- Once your NCEES record is complete, you will need to apply to LAPELS for licensure by completing the online Application by Examination

- Has a violation/disciplinary action in a jurisdiction

Non-Model Law Engineer by Comity – Non-EAC/ABET Engineering BS degree
- Must obtain an NCEES Credential Evaluation before applying
- Pass the NCEES FE and PE Exams
- Obtain 5 Personal References of which 3 must have an active PE licensure
- Gain 8 years of acceptable/verified progressive engineering experience
- Two (2) of the 8 years must be either in the US; or
- If the two (2) years of experience is outside of the US, it must be verified by a US PE

Non-Model Law Engineer by Comity – TAC/ABET BS Engineering Technology degree without additional education, licensed after December 31, 1998 are not eligible for licensure in Louisiana

Non-Model Law Engineer by Comity – Non-EAC/ABET BS Engineering degree, leveled and coupled with a MS Engineering degree from a university with an EAC/ABET undergrad program in the same discipline
- Must obtain an NCEES Credential Evaluation before applying
- Pass the NCEES FE and PE Exams
- Obtain 5 Personal References of which 3 must have an active PE license
- Gain 4 years of acceptable/verified progressive engineering experience subsequent to the date conferred in the MS degree

PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER BY COMITY/EXAM (ACT 2)

Professional Engineer Comity Licensure under: Requesting the requirement for the NCEES FE exam be waived
- Earn a bachelor’s degree from an EAC/ABET accredited program
- Pass the NCEES PE Exam
- Obtain 5 Personal References of which 3 must have an active PE licensure
- Gain 20 years of acceptable/verified progressive engineering experience

Professional Engineer by Exam: Applying to waive the FE and approval to sit for the PE Exam
- Earn a bachelor’s degree from an EAC/ABET accredited program
- Obtain 5 Personal References of which 3 must have an active PE licensure
- Gain 20 years of acceptable/verified progressive engineering experience
- Licensure after notifying LAPELS of a pass PE score

LAPELS is now accepting applications for those who qualify for licensure under the provisions of ACT 2 (La. R. S. 37:693 B (2) (c))
